At TYC we just love to race! Our stretch of the Thames provides challenging sailing with strong tides, intermittent winds, and commercial shipping movements. This means our racers have to be on their toes as they are competing against the conditions as much as they are competing against each other.
We go out of our way to be inclusive and our racing fleet is largely comprised of cruising boats who sail under white sails. We use the BYRON rating system to ensure fair racing for all, and we sail to RYA/RRS rules. We believe that keeping it simple keeps it fun!
We run a number of trophy races during the year and we sail weekly series on Saturdays and Thursday evenings. All member boats are encouraged to take part.
We are also open to new members who are yet to own their own boat. Frequently skippers are looking for keen club members to crew in the race series. This is a great way to gain experience and also see what style of vessel would suit your boating needs.
